When my mom was visiting, I took her to Waimea Valley for an easy hike, located in the North Shore. We arrived right when they opened and the day was really pleasant. I knew she’d like this hike because along the way to the waterfall are some beautiful plant life. If you love flora, Waimea Valley is a gorgeous place to visit. It is peaceful and serene. At the end of the hike you are treated to Waimea Waterfall. Depending on the time of year, the falls can be overflowing. We were lucky as it was flowing quite nicely. You can read up more about Waimea Valley by visiting their link. My blogpost here is primarily to showcase the spectacular plant life we came across.
The “Welcome Desk”. Informative folks behind the desk if you have any questions.
The resident peacock.
There is a gift shop at Waimea Valley that displays your usual touristy trinkets and such, but a great bonus are these potted plants with cuttings of plants from the area. Very reasonable prices! Might be difficult though to get those on the plane if you are visiting.
See the waterfall?
This hike is probably a less then 2 hour hike round trip, not counting the time you spend at the waterfall when you get there. Waimea Valley is truly on of Oahu’s treasures. Be sure to put it on your “Things To Do, Places To Visit on Oahu” on your next vacation.
