I took my medium format film camera out to Ko’Olina one bright and sunny afternoon, mid day in fact… about 11:00 ish just when the sun is almost on top of your head. I wanted to test my abilities as a photographer as well as test the abilities of film in mid day sun. Naturally, I grabbed my 3 kids and asked if they would pretend to like each other for a little bit so that I can snap off some test shots. After a week-ish of waiting for my film scans to come in from the lab, I was really pleasantly surprised with the results. I shot with Kodak Portra 400 film and I think the images turned out beautifully.
Love that my kids don’t mind too much being in front of the camera.
There is definitely some fine grain to these images, but that’s ok with me. It’s an inherent property in film and one that doesn’t happen using digital, unless you manipulate the digital image to have grain in post process. Sorry, geek speak.
I love this one… perfectly imperfect.

I love that you try to perfect what you already know. Some photographers get too confident and cocky and never challenge themselves. Gorgeous models and flawless backdrops!! Still love your work. 🙂
