Photographer at Turtle Bay Resort
Are you lodging at Turtle Bay Resort or somewhere around the North Shore and wondering what my photo shoots look like there? You’ve come to the right place. I’ve blogged about photo shoots in KoOlina and photo shoots near Waikiki in the south shore to give you an idea of what my photo sessions look like at these locations. This blog post is about my photo shoots, beach portraits, photo sessions, family pictures at the beach, whatever you want to refer to it by, at Turtle Bay Resort. I don’t photograph in the resort itself. Why? Simply because there are a lot of vacationers around and your photos would look funny with sunbathers in the background. There are nearby beaches that flank the resort that are very easy to get to on foot. Along with KoOlina, this beach near Turtle Bay Resort is one of my favorites for sunset photo shoots. It offers clear, unobstructed views of the setting sun. It is absolutely breath taking and allows for gorgeous sunset portraits for your family in addition to couples photography. Not to mention, a perfect location for surprise proposals too!
I start my sunset shoots one hour before sunset where there is golden light as the sun starts to set. Plenty of time for some fun photos before the lighting gear gets sets up for the sunset portraits. The background is still beautiful though… the ocean and the trees in the back ground. Pretty!

Sunsets are different every time. Personally, I prefer a sky with some clouds, I like the drama it brings to the photo.

I should mention that this is not a beach that I would jump into and frolic in. There is a lot of rock at the shore and the tide can get rough, so we are very cautious during our photo shoot.
There is sand at this beach which makes for some fun opportunities like this…

But honestly, you can’t go wrong with this beauty of a location.

I love these sunset photo shoots… I really get to make some beautiful photos with my clients.
Anniversary Photo Session on Oahu
I also photograph morning sessions too, but not in the same area as my sunset shoots. This side is just as pretty, but there is a stretch of lava rock that blocks the ocean from the sand.
It’s an equally beautiful location. I prefer this location to the other side because at this location, we won’t get squinty eyes syndrome. The other side is very sunny in the morning you can barely open your eyes!
We can venture past the rocks a bit and explore.
Or we can stay on the sand!
Or stay on the rocks…or as I like to call it “Our Stage!”
