Jameson’s By the Sea in Haleiwa. Popular for their seafood, my friend Jenn and I, yes, the two Jenn’s ventured to the North Shore to try it out. I always opt for a salad, but Jenn said that Jameson’s is popular for their seafood, so might as well try it out. We arrived a few minutes before they opened at 11:30 on a Wednesday and we were seated on the outdoor lanai. Across the street is a view of the ocean. It was a drizzly day, but still quite comfortable outside. I had the daily special. Breaded fresh mahi mahi topped with macadamia nuts, french fried potatoes and a side of veggies. At about $21 a plate, I thought it was a bit pricy, but hey, I live in Hawaii and it’s to be expected. It came out timely and was cooked to perfection. Everything was golden brown and looked yummy. The fish was tender and crispy where it needed to be. The fries were perfect and the veggies were nice and not overcooked. This meal left me filled through dinner and I was content.
Jenn had a ceasar salad topped with cajun fish, $18. She said it was tasty and filling and not overcooked. Sorry, I forgot what kind of fish, I really need to write these things down so I don’t forget.
All in all, it was a nice dining experience. A nice restaurant with a nice country, home style feel in North Shore, nothing fancy, but fancy enough for vacationers looking for some good food, but with a bit of a touristy price. Nice views of the beach if you are seated on the lanai, but even if you don’t get to sit on the lanai, it’s all open air dining and the breeze wafts through. The server was attentive and was knowledgeable about the menu and offered great suggestions.
