Where are the sea turtles in Oahu? Where can I find them? I get asked this all the time. Best place to see the sea turtles basking is at Laniakea Beach. I drove up last week to see if I they were around and unfortunately, they were not basking on this morning. It’s still winter in Hawaii, so it is a little bit cooler and I was told by the conservationist that the sea turtles usually like to come to bask when it is warmer. If I wanted to hang out for a couple of hours as the weather warmed up, I might catch them… but nah, I live here, so I’ll come back on another day. Nonetheless, the view was beautiful and I couldn’t help but sit back and absorb it all in.
If you happen to see the sea turtles, please be respectful and stay a respectable distance away from them… don’t touch them or get near them, usually the conservationist’s have the space around the sea turtles roped off. They are very cool to see and sometimes you don’t notice them because they look like big rocks in the sand, I’ve encountered them a few times and it’s always a shock to discover that THAT rock is actually a sea turtle!! Be sure to put this on your bucket list of “Things to Do, Places to See while vacationing in Oahu” . I will be back here to photograph them basking, so stay tuned!
