Waikiki Beach is a pretty fun place. It is lively with all kinds of people from all over the planet that vacation in Hawaii in addition to some awesome seasoned locals. There is a lot of hustle and bustle in this tiny town. You will find beach goers from early, early, early in the day until the last drops of sunlight toward the evening hours.

You are never quite alone in Waikiki. People everywhere, sunbathing, reading books, surfing, boogie boarding, stand up paddle boarding, sand castle making, tide chasing, strolling, swimming, inner tubing, the list goes on. Lots and lots of people watching to be had here… a smorgasbord of interesting people to people watch.
The water is a comfortable temperature and the views are gorgeous. Lay your beach towel down and claim your spot.

So why don’t I shoot in Waikiki? First and foremost for the reason’s I mentioned above… way too many humans on this beach. I want to take fantastic portrait photos of your family, not spending an absurd amount of hours removing all those tan bodies with speedos and bikinis from the images of your family moments on my computer. The other reason is that this scenic part of Waikiki Beach is off limits to professional photography as mandated by the state. If I was just taking a photo of Diamond Head, it would be fine.. but if I had my gear and a family of 6 out on this beach for an hour, I may get tapped on the shoulder by a state official and that would embarrassing.

So where do I take my clients if they don’t want to go far from Waikiki for photo shoots? I really love this beach. It’s only a 15 minute drive from Waikiki and it is devoid of people all over the place, which makes this professional photographer happy when I want to give you my complete attention during our time together. I don’t want to be waiting for a squad of bikini clad college students on break to walk by and out of my shot or accidentally trip over a large bellied man basking in his speedo. But you thought Waikiki wasn’t THAT busy from what you’ve seen on the interweb? Well, keep in mind that us locals want you to come to Hawaii to spend your vacation dollars so of course we are gonna make everything extra pretty and tranquil. Don’t take it the wrong way though, I was once a vacationer too (several years ago) and fell in love with this magical island. When faced with the reality of this island, I was sold. I relocated and I’ve never been happier. Please trust me on the best locations spots for your professional photo shoot.
