I will be the first to admit how much I love to take photographs. When we spend family time anywhere, I always have a camera on me. The one above is my new acquisition. It’s a vintage Polaroid Landcamera 250. It takes instant film, the kind that you pull out, wait a few seconds and peel back. It’s super cool. My problem these days is which camera do I want to take?! I can never settle on just one, but I’m going to have to or else my arm is going to fall off from all the weight I’m carrying in my bag.
That’s a perfect instant print of my daughter and her surf board. It only took 20 seconds to develop. I love instant film . I took several more on this day, but ended up giving the Polaroid prints to the families and groups I was taking a photo of. My photography, I love to share it and I love to have others experience it too. So you may have guessed, I brought 2 cameras with me this day. My Polaroid Land Camera and my Canon 5D MarkII, because I took a photo of the Polaroid. Yes, I am obsessed!
As a mom, I just don’t want to forget anything and Oahu, Hawaii has many beautiful spots which lend to the memories I don’t want to forget. When we go to a beach, we meet a lot of vacationers and my son immediately goes and plays with them and makes fast friends. He amazes me how at ease he is with other kids his age. He’s not shy at all and will be the first to ask, “You wanna play?” and I am sure these vacationing kids wouldn’t mind having a break from their parents and siblings to play with someone new. So there’s my son, playing with a new friend who he literally met 5 minutes before this shot was taken. For the most part, we argue about what beach we want to go to because each person has their own idea of beach fun. Yes, #Hawaiifolkproblems
This girl. My middle child. She is not yet ready to surf and not yet ready to just put herself out there to make friends. She’s particular about the beach she likes to play in and prefers gentle surf and soft sand under her feet, so for the most part, when we go to a surfing spot, she hangs out with me. I tell her to stand here or there so I can test out my settings and challenge myself in open sun. She happily (most of the time) will go and smile for me… and we talk about life and the future.
…. and as we hang out.. I observe and see stuff around me that I take shots of… a group of girls heading out to catch some waves….
…. surfboards…
….. leaves….
a family of slippers waiting for some feet….
my daughter taking pics of her brother with the waterproof camera….
my daughter exploring the tide pools…
cute little boy face…
baby caterpillar’s on wrists….
a cute doggie…
my husband…
This is pretty much a weekend for us.
Thanks for visiting! What is it that you’d love to do on your visit to Oahu? Warmest Aloha~j
