If you haven’t been to Old Town Haleiwa in North Shore lately, you’re in for a surprise. It’s getting a face lift with new shops coming in. We were there a couple of weeks ago and were surprised with the fast changes under way. I’m not sure what to think of it yet. Just absorbing it all in. What I am thrilled about is that there is now a nice, clean public bathroom available. It’s hard enough finding a place to make a pit stop when you have to go…. but the public restroom is a nice addition, provided it’s kept up and clean.
Inside the Haleiwa Fruit Stand…. It all looks so pretty! But I’m pretty sure these aren’t produced locally.
Matsumoto’s Shave Ice remains untouched to date. That’s my kids goofing in line (left picture) and the line still stems outside of the store, but it goes by fast.
Inside the Whalers General Store are refrigerated sections displaying beautiful gorgeous fruits looking very pretty and enticing! I think there was even a fresh poke section in the back. It’s nice to grab something quick on your way to the beach.
My kids will never tire of Matsumoto Shave Ice. These benches in the back are made of recycled wood. Pretty cool.
Some of the shops coming in.
It will be interesting to see how the atmosphere of Haleiwa changes with all this redevelopment.
