We had booked our session months ago and I found out why just a couple of weeks prior. Mamma was waiting for her new little girl to come into the world. She was here and so was the rest of the extended family. I was invited to the house because sometimes it’s just darn hard to round up the gang to go to a location. This family is local and why not photograph at the house? I’m all for it, I’ll go anywhere! For reals, I’ll go anywhere!
When I arrived at 9am.. there was a flurry of little ones all over the place.. at the center of it all was grandma and grandpa… how cute are they? 50 Golden Years together and cute as peaches.
Riiight? Peaches.
There were 2 brothers, 1 sister, the matriarchs and the keiki’s… All in all, a lively, wonderful family. Colin sent me this message afterwards, “Thanks again for Saturday—it was probably the best and easiest photo session the family had.” Can I get a high five! I love that… Thank You!! His wife said to me, “Wow, this is almost like we’re on a date!” Can I get a low five?! Yes!! I’ve said it once and I’ll say it a million times.. I love photography and I love people… and I love photographing people. These guys really made it easy…
Of course, there are rare times when the keiki’s just aren’t into it. I get that. I totally get that. Like this little one. She was just not that into me. It’s ok, because these candid moments are the best.
Yes, confirmed, little one wasn’t feeling it and you just have to go with it at times… but big sister was all smiles!!
When we started, this little girl took a bit to warm up… look at her! Adorable in her candid moments….
She disappeared for a bit to get her camera, then she was all over the place, my 2nd shooter…
This wee one did great.. totally mellow, going with the flow… It was really a wonderful morning to be in the center of this family’s hustle and bustle.
Thank you Yoshiyama’s and Wong’s for inviting me over! I hope you’ll call me up next year! Piece of cake!
Much Aloha!! ~j

Lifestyle photography is perfect for at the home… it’s not all the time that you have to go to the beach or a park, even though Hawaii is the perfect place for family photography… especially when you have a newborn and very young children. A controlled, quiet, homey environment is often times the best, however all families are different, but it’s great to know that you can keep your photo session relaxed and simple at your home.
Thank you Carol!! It was my pleasure!
Thank you Jennifer…amazing work! I love the slideshow.
