It’s always good to be doing something for lifestyle photoshoots. These guys decided to bake some cookies and it was the perfect activity. I give some subtle posing cues and they just go with it. It’s really great fun and it captures a more candid side of your family.

These guys have a beautiful, fun loving blended family and there is no shortage of activity in the home.. Mom likes it that way.. she likes her kitchen to be the hub of conversation, activity, laughs and the place to come to for no reason at all.. so it was just really appropriate that we all gathered around the kitchen counter.

Mom was, as most all moms are, excited and nervous and fretting about what to wear. I tend to like to keep these sessions casual, but still coordinating. Relaxed jeans, comfy clothes and an accent color.

I also tell my mom’s not to worry about deep cleaning.. we are not going to open closets or drawers! LOL.. if we need to move things around we will.. but I love that this is just the authenticity of who your family is at this particular moment! In my opinion, it would look too staged and glossy if everything was pristine… however, if you are an organized, neat freak, go for it! It’s all YOU! and that’s what I want to photograph!
