Happy Aloha Friday! I had the pleasure of photographing this lovely family at Kahala Hotel and Resort, Oahu on an overcast and pleasant morning. They told me to meet them at the Dolphin Pond. I haven’t been around too much at the resorts yet, but that doesn’t mean I won’t know what or how to photograph. New places are exciting to me, to see the place with fresh eyes and to figure out where we can go to photograph. I really love walking around and seeing what will unfold. So imagine my surprise when I found the Dolphin Pond and then to see real live dolphins swimming in there! Hawaii surprises me all the time. Anyway… Kay had contacted me a few months ago from China. Not only does the Dolphin Pond get me excited but to know that a family found me on the internet all the way in China!!! That really made me happy… without further more from me, meet Kay and Hubert and their family.
This is Kay and the real star of the morning, Siena. Siena and I hit it off pretty quickly. I love kids and I have worked with all ages and so I’ve been pretty blessed with being able to get them comfortable with me and my camera. Siena brought along her grandma and grandpa that you will see in the Fusion Slideshow at the end of this post. Siena is just a doll. She had the run of the photo session. Whatever she wanted, I just followed.
Kay and Hubert were great and doted very lovingly on Siena, the apple of their eyes. The weather was perfect. We were worried it would be too hot and muggy and 9am, but everything was perfect. Nice clouds in the sky, the sun peaking in and out. The view from the resort was spectacular, the waves calm. A terrific place for a family photo session if you happen to be staying at this resort while on vacation. I love the trees, it frames them perfectly.
Hubert is a local boy who took some time off work to come and relax and visit family on the island. The more I meet people, I find it amazing where they are coming from or going to. I have to remind myself that there is a vast world beyond my own. It took moving to Hawaii to grasp that. I love that Kay and Hubert can have some fun with Siena on the beach and that I’m just a fly on the wall watching and taking pictures of it. Siena was really having a great time with mom and dad on both sides of her.
At Kahala Beach there is this peninsula that juts out into the water. Just a sliver of land about 6 feet wide or so and then rocks… perfect for a photograph like this. We had cloud cover and the skies were grey, just perfect in every way.
From a wide angle shot to a zoomed in candid moment. Love how all three are in this image. Very much full of love.
Thank you so much Kay and Hubert for spending your morning with me, I hope you had a great time.. hope to see you again soon. Aloha!!!
