Maria, her mother, her father and her son traveled from cold and dreary Chicago to meet me at the Disney Aulani Resorts to have family photographs taken with me. We had scheduled this photo session about 3 1/2 months out and I remember Maria telling me that there is nothing like palm trees, sunshine and beautiful beaches to take beautiful family photo’s near in Chicago and she was really, really looking forward to this trip.
It had been raining all weekend and the weather forecast did not call for favorable rain free weather, even in the Leeward side of the island. I arrived at our location and it had begun to rain. Five minutes of straight rain and I just wasn’t sure. I said a silent prayer. When Maria and her family arrived we rescheduled our photo shoot, but decided to just go for it. Maria was all dolled up, just a lovely vision and we just had to try to eek out whatever dry weather we could squeeze out and thankfully it stayed dry for us! Her son, her father affectionately referred to as “The Young Prince” was a delight. This was really an occasion for him to remember in Maria’s scrapbooks.

This was grandpa’s 52nd (or was it 53rd?) trip to Hawaii, ask him anything, he knew it. This man, a social butterfly, really a one man welcoming committee for the islands. Very comfortable in asking passerby’s how they were enjoying their vacation and where they were from. This is a man you need to know and shake his hand.

…. and grandma…. at the beginning of their vacation, she accidentally slipped and landed on her face… she was determined to make the most of this photo session with her grandson as best she could… bless her heart! I will admit, grandma knew which side was her best angle to hide her injuries… she looks great! Can’t even tell! and the best part is the interaction between her and her grandson… it’s just beautiful.
I am always very honored by the wonderful people I meet through my photography and this family was no exception, just a wonderful warm family… thank you for spending your morning with me and I’m so glad that mother nature smiled on us and gave us some great beautiful skies! … hope to see you all again in the near future!
