Our dear friends from our old neighborhood in California were in Maui during Easter weekend.. with some coordination and planning my family was able to meet up with them and take an island hopper over to beautiful Maui to spend the weekend with them. It was a surprise for their 11 year old daughter, Olivia. She woke up the morning of the trip and her parents told her they were going to Hawaii. Olivia is one of my Marlena’s BFF’s- Best Friend Foreva!- and the first thing she asked after shaking off her disbelief was, “Does Marlena know I’m coming to Hawaii?” True best friends!!
We were just really happy to be spending time with Cal, Lisa and Olivia. That’s Cal up there on the paddle board in the lower right corner~ let me say right now that he makes the best margarita’s ever– EVER!!!– BTW Cal ~ Washington Apple: 1 part Crown Royale, 1 part Apple Pucker, add cran-apple juice to taste, it should taste like a Washington Apple and add ice… shake, shake, shake and pour..~ Lisa and I grew really close the last few months I was in California. Not only is she my friend, but she also sold my house… and held my hand and cried with me throughout the entire process. I’m very grateful that she’s in my life now and I’m pretty sure we’ll be lifelong friends even though we are separated by a little bit of water in between.
Lisa just adores my 3 keiki’s and they adore her. There was just no way on the planet that they would not come and spend time with her.
In California they were Miss. Lisa and Mr. Cal, but now they are Auntie Lisa and Uncle Cal… I think Uncle Cal loved having a nephew in Jensen, don’t you think?
The girls hadn’t seen each other since we left last November, so they were just very giddy to be together again..
We spent a full day at Black Rock jumping that rock. That’s my husband up there, mid jump.
They also saw this guy floating around..
That’s the underwater camera we use for all our underwater/on the water shots in case you were wondering.
We had great fun… I only wish the weekend was a little longer… or they would stay and be my neighbors…
Me and my David.
Lisa and her Cal.
Thought I’d throw this one in… it was a Cal-pile-spider-thing going on…
So much fun comes to an end, and with it tears and hugs…
We miss you so much already… and Olivia.. you can come over for Spring and/or Summer Break anytime!!… I know we’ll give each other a big hug again in person soon enough… Love you guys!!
With Love and Aloha,
