It was 6:30pm and if we didn’t leave, we would miss it. So we packed all the kids in the car and drove down to Waikiki. The moon was to the north east when we saw it and it was huge and beautiful. By the time we got into Honolulu, it had sank behind the tall buildings and the clouds. We set up our lookout station near Magic Island, the sun sank into the horizon and the moon became brighter. It appeared to be farther away hiding behind the tall hotels of Waikiki, making it’s way above the clouds… and there it was the Super Moon… beautiful and bright. David and I took about 50 photos, changing camera settings, changing camera angles. The moon is a constant source of bright light against a canvas of dark and the camera light meter just can’t make up it’s mind on what to do. We were happy to get these two images.
Super Moon over Waikiki. Enjoy.
