Redlands Photographer | Hoya Krimson Queen
My mother loves plants. She would give me a few and I’d just neglect them, eventually leading to their demise. I remember my husband and I bought a plant for our first home and it immediately just made the space lovely and warm. It was my favorite place to chill out. The best part is that I could neglect the plant and when the leaves wilted a bit, I’d give it a little water. When I lived in Hawaii, my love for plants exploded, specifically succulents. I was always seeking unique succulents to add to my collection. I had a space in my house that received beautiful morning light perfect for a houseplant collection. My mom and I had lots to talk about on the phone,, our plants. It’s awesome to have our plants to talk about. Sadly, when we moved from Hawaii, I gave away all of those plants to friends to look after… not to mention all the beautiful ceramic pots I had acquired. We’ve been back in California for a over a year and a half now and you bet my plant acquisition has been in full force. When I go to the home improvement stores, I’m always going to the garden section to see what they got. I’m on Pinterest checking out the latest “it” plant. All my optimal spaces in my house are taken up by my plant babies… I really have to stop buying plants… all I have to say is “We’ll see”… because really, there is always more room for more plants.

I love Hoya’s. My mom mailed me a Hoya when I lived in Hawaii- I totally do not recommend this because it’s actually prohibited to mail in plants to Hawaii from the mainland unless it’s approved by the Agriculture of State or an approved plant species… but for some reason, this package passed the dog sniff test and I got the plant. Honestly, I didn’t know anything about Hoya’s and I just left this one alone and let it do it’s thing. I’ll share more about it on another post.
Affordable Family Photo Shoots in Redlands, Inland Empire
Above is a Hoya Krimson Queen. I found this one at Lowe’s and I snatched it up. Hoya’s have thick waxy leaves and Krimson Queen’s have tri color leaves, green, creme and pink. Mine sits at my kitchen counter where it gets morning light and she just loves it there. I’ve learned to water only when the soil is dry, the plant is able to retain a lot of water in it’s leaves so a little neglect is fine. I was bored and did a photoshoot with all my plants, lol. This photo was taken about 2 weeks ago and just now it’s sprouting some pink edged leaves. The photos will allow me to document their progress and I’m excited to compare this picture with a future picture. Yes, I’m THAT plant parent!
