It had been about 14 years since I briefly saw my friend Leilani last. It was our 10 year high school reunion. She was busy flitting around so I don’t think we really had a chance to talk, but I think we did say hello. She skipped our 20 year high school reunion, so when I got a message on my FaceBook that she was going to be in Hawaii and that she had wanted to meet up, I was excited to see her and catch up.
We had spent a few hours over coffee just talking, talking, talking. She brought her darling little girl, Kalia. I had the honor of her scribblings in my journal. We talked about our husbands, our children, siblings, how our lives have changed since high school and how Leilani had lived in Hawaii for a few teen years and is quite comfortable and happy being a mainlander. Over coffee, she shared her experience living here with me. I listened, very interested in her story. I live here now so it’s intriguing for me to see how our experiences weave in an out of each others.
Adorable, yes?
Thanks for giving me a holla Leilani and wanting to meet up… Hawaii has been great because I always said to my husband, “Nobody ever vacations in Roseville to visit us.”… Hope to see you again soon!
Much Aloha,
