What to wear for your beach photo shoot in Oahu. Oahu Family Photographer
I am very blessed to photograph families from all over the planet and they show up with some pretty awesome wardrobe ensembles. Contrary to popular belief, I do not tell my clients what colors they should wear. I absolutely advise them to wear clothing they can move in and feel comfortable in. Comfort is key as we are walking through sand and sometimes rock and it can get warm!! In addition, if you feel like you a million bucks in your outfit, chances are, you are going to radiate like you are feeling pretty hawt. I love that. I will pick up on those nuances and photograph the heck out of you, especially with the mamma’s that I meet. After all, dad’s like to look at their hawt mamma’s and this is a great chance to get close and connect while the wee ones are preoccupied with their surroundings. I highly encourage you to choose clothing that you feel just awesome in. Along with this, it’s always a good thing to coordinate. COORDINATE. Coordinate does not mean to be matchy matchy. As I mentioned in this post, I think the matchy matchy goes well if your little ones are young. Wear clothes that coordinate and are suitable to who you are. Show me your personality! Hawaii is a pretty special place and there is so much beauty all around. In my opinion, the more colorful your outfits are, the more you will stand out from the backdrop of Hawaii.
Are you a large family coming from all points of the mainland and can’t get together to coordinate your clothing? There’s a couple of things you can do. Choose 1,2 or 3 colors. For example, tell everyone to bring an outfit that has either red, blue or yellow. I guarantee when you all show up, you will coordinate. It just happens, just like that!! However, there may be a rebel in your group that shows up in hot pink! Which is totally fine with me, because it will definitely give everyone a laugh and the photos will tell that story… “We all wore red, blue or yellow and Uncle Joe shows up in hot pink!!” Another suggestion is to scour the internet and look at images that have a color scheme to them and send the link to everyone in the group so that they have an idea of what you’re going for. The fruit of all this is really to photograph you and your loved ones in the beauty that is Hawaii. The subject will always be you and your connection with your spouse and your children and not really what you are wearing… although, it is nice to come prepared.
